Newborn Photography FAQs – Everything You Need to Know

When Should I Book My Newborn Session?

If you’re thinking about booking a newborn session in Manchester, the best time to reach out is during pregnancy—ideally after your 20-week scan when your due date is confirmed. This gives us plenty of time to secure a spot, and we can always finalize the date once your baby arrives and you’re both doing well. Booking early is recommended to avoid disappointment, but don’t worry – last-minute availability might still be possible. I also offer discounts if you book a newborn session with a maternity shoot, so feel free to ask about that!

Where Will the Session Take Place?

Your newborn photoshoot can take place in the comfort of your own home for a more relaxed, lifestyle feel, or in my small studio for a more traditional setup with classic posing. I’ve got off-street parking available, and I’ll send you the address beforehand so you can find the location easily.

How Do I Book My Newborn Photoshoot?

Booking is easy! You can book via email, text, or phone call – whatever works best for you. I take a limited number of newborn sessions each month to ensure I give each family the attention they deserve, and I book based on your due date. There’s a £25 deposit to secure your session (which comes off your package price).

Can I Include Siblings or Parents in My Newborn Photoshoot?

Absolutely! If you want to include siblings or other family members in your newborn session, just let me know in advance. I usually like to start the session with family and sibling shots because young children get bored quickly. Make sure everyone is dressed and ready to go when you arrive—this means combing hair and cleaning up any messy faces. Bring along a few snacks for the little ones to keep them happy during the session. Sessions typically happen on weekends.

What Should I Bring to the Photoshoot?

If you’re bottle-feeding, please bring extra milk—babies often need to feed a bit more when the room is warm. Don’t forget spare nappies and a dummy if your baby uses one. The room will be kept cozy and warm, so you’ll want to dress lightly yourself. Breastfeeding is always welcome. Please make sure you only bring the people who will be in the photoshoot to the session so we can stay focused on the baby.

Also, please leave your own cameras or recording devices at home—this way, we can concentrate on capturing those beautiful moments together!

What If We’re Not Feeling Well?

Life happens! If either you or your child aren’t feeling well, don’t hesitate to give me a call and we can reschedule. If you need to cancel, please try to do so at least 48 hours in advance to avoid any cancellation fees.

What Happens After the Photoshoot?

I’ll edit your newborn photos in about 3-4 weeks, but I’ll usually share a teaser image on social media that you’re welcome to tag yourself in and share with friends and family. Once everything is ready, I’ll send you a link to your secure, password-protected gallery where you can view and download your images. The gallery will be available for one week, and if you’d like to order any extra prints or images, just make sure to do it before then
